The body has the capacity to heal itself

July 12, 2019

Okay, let's understand that statement and delve more into it. When we get a cut we see a little rip in our skin and a little blood. After a while it stops bleeding and we see little redness around the area followed by clotting which is nature’s Band aid to close the wound and not allow any foreign objects enter our body and cause infections. And that is the way the body has the capacity to heal itself. We call it our Stimulus response system. The same occurs with musculoskeletal, sports and joint injuries. However, it takes much longer and the body may not heal a complete hundred percent from ligament, tendon and joint injuries. Some estimates show that the repair cycle for tendon or ligament injury to be around 50-60 percent of the pre injury strength.

And this is where Regenerative medicine injection therapy comes into play. To help resolve injuries that have remain unresolved and are now becoming reasons for chronic pain and degeneration.

Why do injuries remain unresolved, if the body has the capacity to heal itself?

Think about the stimulus response system we discussed earlier. While it is easy to repair a small cut. Tendon, ligament and joint injuries takes time, a typical injury may take 4-6 weeks to heal with most of the healing occurring in the first two weeks of injury. After that the body stimulus to heal diminishes significantly and not much additional healing is likely to occur later as the body has moved on as it deems it good enough. Even after healing completely there are chances that it may have not returned to hundred percent and if it is less than a hundred percent there are chances it becomes a little weaker and predisposed to another injury. And repeated injury will diminish the ability to heal and make it heal at a lower percentage level than previous case and make the joint unstable and lax. And can now turn from Acute pain to Chronic pain.

All Chronic Pain was at one time Acute

By addressing the injury site and treating the connective tissue and micro tears from the injury using PRP injection therapy will trick the body into reacting as if it were organically injured and will start stimulating the ares with increase blood flow due to inflammation caused during the injection therapy process. We call it the good inflammation. This will resume the healing. PRP injection therapy has little of low risks and side effects and has a high success rate in helping repair and strengthen injured and weak ligaments, tendons, and joints, reducing or eliminating pain.
